Making the Season: Production Details
On August 25, 2011, Disney decided to make a fourth season of Phineas and Ferb. This was part of a big deal with the show's creators, Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh. The deal also included a movie and a possible spin-off show. The new episodes were planned to come out until 2014.
Marvel Heroes Join the Fun
Since Disney owns Marvel Entertainment, they announced that some famous Marvel heroes would appear in a special episode. Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor all showed up in a crossover episode that first aired on August 16, 2013.
The Show's End
On February 15, 2014, it was announced that the work on this season was finished. The show was going to take a break for a while. However, Dan Povenmire later said that the team was still working on new episodes. In July 2014, he mentioned they were finishing up 20 episodes that hadn't aired yet.
One episode, Doof 101, was meant to be a test for a spin-off series. This new show would have been about Dr. Doofenshmirtz becoming a science teacher at a high school. But the spin-off idea was not chosen.
On May 7, 2015, Disney announced that the series was officially ending. The very last episode, called Last Day of Summer, aired on June 12, 2015. A separate special episode, The OWCA Files, aired later in November 2015 and January 2016.
