Picnic, also known as Hurrah, is a small, quiet place in southeastern Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It's not a city with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. You can find it between the towns of Plant City and Lithia. Picnic is best known for being home to the beautiful Alafia River State Park.
History of Picnic
The areas known as Picnic and Hurrah actually started as two separate communities. This happened not long after the Civil War ended. The name "Picnic" comes from a popular spot where people used to gather. This special place was located right where the Alafia River and Hurrah Creek meet.
Schools in Picnic
Students living in the Picnic community attend schools that are part of the Hillsborough County Schools system. Young learners are zoned for Pinecrest Elementary. Older students go to Turkey Creek Middle School and then on to Durant High School.
