The Story of Pike
The area that is now Pike started in the early 1860s. It grew into a small, successful community for local farmers. Many people attended church there.
A post office opened in Pike in 1885. It helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open until 1932. After that, mail for Pike was sent through Leonard.
By 1900, Pike was a busy place. It had two churches and a Masonic lodge, which is a social group. There were also six stores, a cotton gin (a machine for cleaning cotton), and a blacksmith shop (where metal items were made). More than 100 people lived in the area.
Pike's population was highest in 1933, with 172 residents. It stayed around that number until 1945. From 1980 to 2000, the population was about 80 people.
