How Pinar de Campoverde Grew
Pinar de Campoverde started growing in the mid-1980s. Many people from other countries moved here. These included people from the UK, Germany, France, and Scandinavia. They built homes and settled in the village.
Before this, the area was mostly a large pine forest. It was next to the Río Seco river. Farmers did not use the land much. Later, many trees were cleared. This made space for orange and lemon farms. The name Pinar de Campoverde comes from its past. Pinar means pine woodland, and Campo Verde means green field. This is how the first people saw the area.
Village Life and People
Most people living in Pinar de Campoverde today are from other countries. Many are from the UK and Germany. This is because tourism has become very popular here.
The Main Street
The heart of the village is Avenida del Pino. This street is two kilometers long. It runs from the main road to the sports fields. Along this street, you will find many places to eat and drink. There are also shops and real estate offices. The village has a medical center, a dentist, and a vet. On Sundays, a small street market takes place in the village center. It is near the free car park.
The Newer Areas
To the west of the village is a newer part. It has been built since the late 1990s. Most people living here are also from other countries. This area has another shopping spot at the top of the village. Here, you can find a pharmacy and a few bars and shops. These places offer nice views of the countryside.
The village is built on the side of the Rio Seco, which means "dry river." Because of this, some parts of the village are quite hilly. The older areas have very narrow footpaths. The Parque Central, or Central Park, is also located here.
Shopping in the Village
Pinar de Campoverde has a few supermarkets. There is a Spar in the main square. Another is a British Overseas Supermarket on Avenida de Las Especias. There used to be a third one, Jumerca Gama, but it closed in 2022.
