Pinar del Río is one of the provinces of Cuba. It is located at the western end of the island of Cuba. Its capital city is also called Pinar del Río. The province covers an area of about 10,904 square kilometers and is home to over 726,000 people. This means there are about 66 people living in each square kilometer.

Pinar del Río is known for its beautiful natural features. It has one of Cuba's three main mountain ranges, called the Cordillera de Guaniguanico. This mountain range is split into two parts: the Sierra del Rosario in the east and the Sierra de los Organos in the west. These mountains create a unique landscape with steep limestone hills and flat, green valleys.

The province is very important for tobacco farming. Pinar del Río grows about 70% of all the tobacco in Cuba! This tobacco is used to make the famous Cuban cigars, which are popular all over the world. The very best tobacco, used for expensive cigars, comes from the flat lands around San Juan y Martínez. Besides farming, tourism is also a big part of the economy, especially in the beautiful Viñales Valley.
