The Pinchot Sycamore is a giant American sycamore tree found in Simsbury, Connecticut. It is the biggest tree in all of Connecticut! This amazing tree is super old. Experts think it is at least 200 years old, and maybe even over 300 years old.
In 2016, the Connecticut Botanical Society measured the tree. Its trunk was more than 28 feet (about 8.5 meters) around. The tree stood 100 feet (about 30.5 meters) tall. Its branches spread out, covering an area 121 feet (about 37 meters) wide.

The Pinchot Sycamore is a very special tree. It is named after Gifford Pinchot. He was an important person who worked to protect nature. He lived in Connecticut for some time. The tree was first named for him in 1965. Later, in 1975, a special stone marker was placed there. This marker helps people remember Gifford Pinchot's work.

However, by 2008-2009, a new champion tree was found. This even larger sycamore is in Ashland, Ohio. Even so, the Pinchot Sycamore is still one of the largest and most impressive trees around!

A Guitar from the Tree
In 2005, a unique guitar was made. It was crafted from a branch that had fallen from the Pinchot Sycamore. This special guitar was sold at an auction. The money raised helped the Farmington River Watershed Association. This group works to protect the Farmington River.
Surviving a Snowstorm
In October 2011, an early snowstorm hit the area. The Pinchot Sycamore lost some branches from its top. But don't worry, the tree was not badly hurt. Its main, large branches at the bottom stayed strong and healthy. The tree still looks impressive today.
