A Look at Pine Level's Past

From Airfield to Farmland

From 1941 to 1945, a large flat area next to Pine Level was used as the Deatsville Auxiliary Field. This was an extra airfield for pilot training during World War II. It was connected to Gunter Field in Montgomery, Alabama. After the war, the land was turned back into farmland.

Becoming an Official Town

On September 26, 2023, the people of Pine Level voted on whether to become an official town. More than 300 people were able to vote. 59 people voted for the idea, and 43 voted against it. The votes were counted that evening.

This decision came after more than a year of hard work. People who wanted Pine Level to become a town believed it would help keep tax money in their community. They also wanted to stop other nearby towns from taking over Pine Level's land.

After the vote, a count of all the residents was done. Then, elections were held on December 5, 2023. On that day, the first mayor and five town council members were chosen. Mayor Zachary Bigley and the council members officially started their jobs on December 11, 2023.
