Pinofranqueado, also known locally as Pinofranqueáu, is a small town in Spain. It is a type of local government area called a municipality. You can find it in the beautiful Las Hurdes region. This region is part of the province of Cáceres, which is in the larger area of Extremadura.
In 2018, about 1,748 people lived in Pinofranqueado. The town is known for its quiet charm and natural surroundings.
A Special Royal Visit
In April 1998, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain visited Pinofranqueado. This was a very important event for the area. It was the first time a king or queen had visited Las Hurdes since 1922.
During their visit, the King gave a speech. He praised the people of Las Hurdes, often called Hurdanos. He spoke about how they had worked hard to overcome difficulties from the past. This visit showed the royal family's support for the region.

Pinofranqueado is not just one town. It also includes several smaller settlements. These are called alquerías. An alquería is like a tiny village with only a few houses. They are spread out within the municipality's borders.
