Pinto is a small, unincorporated community located in Allegany County, Maryland, in the United States. It sits right along the North Branch Potomac River. This river forms a natural border between Maryland and West Virginia. Across the river from Pinto, you'll find Rocket Center, West Virginia. Pinto is also located south of another community called Cresaptown, along Winchester Road.

The Story Behind the Name
The community was originally called Potomac. However, there was already another place in Maryland named Potomac. To avoid confusion, especially for mail delivery, the post office for this area was named Pinto. This is why the community is now commonly known by that name.
