Pippi Longstocking (original Swedish title: Pippi Långstrump) is a fun 1969 Swedish movie. It is based on the popular children's books by Astrid Lindgren. The film uses the same actors from the 1969 Pippi Longstocking TV series. It was made by editing together parts of the TV show. The movie first came out in the US in 1973.
What the Movie is About
A mysterious and super strong girl named Pippi Longstocking moves into an empty house called Villa Villekulla. Pippi has bright red hair. She lives all by herself. Her only companions are a monkey named Mr. Nilsson and her horse, Little Old Man.
Pippi quickly becomes friends with two kids who live next door. Their names are Tommy and Annika. The three friends become inseparable. They go on many exciting adventures together. These adventures often turn their quiet Swedish town upside down!
A nosy lady named Miss Prysselius wants to send Pippi to a children's home. She gets the town's clumsy police officers, Kling and Klang, to try and catch Pippi. This leads to many funny and wild situations.
