Pippi Longstocking (Swedish: Pippi Långstrump) is a fun TV show from Sweden. It's based on the popular children's books by Astrid Lindgren. The show first aired on February 8, 1969, on Sveriges Television.
There were thirteen episodes in total. The show's famous theme song is "Here Comes Pippi Longstocking." Jan Johansson wrote the music. Astrid Lindgren, who wrote the books, wrote the words for the song. Inger Nilsson, the actress who played Pippi, sang the song.

Pippi Longstocking on the Big Screen
The Swedish TV series was also turned into movies. In 1969, two feature films were made from the TV show. These films were dubbed into German. Later, they were dubbed into English for release in the United States. They became popular weekend movies on TV in America during the 1970s and 1980s.
