What is El Bibio?
The El Bibio Bullring is a large, round building. It was designed by an architect named Ignacio de Velasco. The building has a special look called Neo-Mudéjar style. This style uses designs inspired by old Spanish and Moorish art.
It has a diameter of 50 meters and can hold 9,258 people. The bullring is owned by the Gijón City Hall.
A Look Back in Time
Construction of the bullring started in 1886. It was finished two years later, in 1888.
During the Spanish Civil War in 1936, parts of the bullring were damaged. However, it was later repaired and continued to be an important place. In 1997, the building got a big update. This renovation helped keep it in good shape for many more years.
