A Look Back: History of Plymouth
Plymouth was started in 1872 by a group of people from New England. They named the new settlement after Plymouth, Massachusetts.
In 1884, a railroad line was built nearby. The entire town of Plymouth then moved about 3 miles (4.8 km) to be closer to the new train tracks. This helped the town grow and connect with other places.
