Key Terms in Pokémon RéBURST
What is Burst?
Burst (バースト, Bāsuto) is a special power. It lets a human combine with a Pokémon. When they do, they gain the Pokémon's powers. They also get its special protections. Their physical strength and defense become much stronger. People who can use Burst are called Burst Warriors (B戦士, Bāsuto senshi). To use Burst safely, you need a lot of training. If you try without training, it can be very dangerous. If a Burst Warrior is defeated, they automatically change back to normal.
What is a Burst Heart?
A Burst Heart (Bハート, Bāsuto Hāto) is a small, jewel-like object. It actually holds a Pokémon inside! The Pokémon is sealed so its power can be used. A Burst Heart is like a Poké Ball because it holds a Pokémon. But it's different because it doesn't just store the Pokémon to be released later. If a Burst Heart breaks, the Pokémon inside is set free. We don't know how Burst Hearts are made. But Great Gavel has created Artificial Burst Hearts (人工 Bハート).
When Burst is activated, the user's body becomes much stronger. The abilities they get depend on the Pokémon they combine with. For example, a Ground-type Pokémon makes the user immune to Electric attacks. It takes a lot of training to use Burst. Otherwise, it can be very dangerous.
A person can even go inside their Burst Heart. This helps them connect better with the Pokémon inside. In Ryouga's Burst Heart, there is a huge field. His Zekrom is held in a large area there. When Ryouga reaches this spot, a key turns into a young boy. This boy tests Ryouga to see if he is worthy of seeing Zekrom. After Ryouga passes the test, the boy turns back into a key. Then Ryouga can see Zekrom.
Burst Hearts can also get stronger. Just like Pokémon, they grow stronger with more battles. This makes the Burst power stronger too.
The Compass of Light
The Compass of Light (光の羅針盤) is a big crystal-like object. It can find Burst Hearts. When one Burst Heart is placed in one of its six slots, it shines a beam of light. This beam searches for other Burst Hearts nearby. The more Burst Hearts are close, the more beams of light appear. Also, a thicker beam means the person with that Burst Heart is stronger. Hariru said that if the "six original Burst Hearts" are put into the Compass, Ryouga can find Arcades.
Burst Heart Survival Tournament
Burst Heart Survival (BHS, Bāsuto Hāto Sabaibaru) is a tournament for Burst Warriors. It happens in the Pokémon RéBURST manga. Pauline is the guide for the tournament. The winner gets a huge prize of ¥1,000,000,000. They also win all the other contestants' Burst Hearts.
