Point Breeze is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. It is mostly a place where people live. The area got its name from a old tavern that used to be there.
Many students from Point Breeze go to local high schools. These include Taylor Allderdice High School, Oakland Catholic High School, and Central Catholic High School.

Cool Places to Visit
One of the most famous spots in Point Breeze is Henry Clay Frick's home, "Clayton." This house is part of the Frick Art & Historical Center, which is a big area with museums and gardens.
There are also several schools in the neighborhood. You can find St. Bede School and the Pittsburgh New Church School. Point Breeze is also home to Linden Academy elementary school and Sterrett Middle School. The Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary is here too.
The neighborhood has lots of green spaces for everyone to enjoy. These include Westinghouse Park, Mellon Park, and the beautiful Homewood Cemetery. Part of the large Frick Park is also within Point Breeze.
Point Breeze in Books
Point Breeze has been featured in some famous books! Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Dillard wrote about growing up here in the 1950s. Her popular book is called An American Childhood. As a child, she went to Park Place Elementary.
Another author, John Edgar Wideman, also wrote about the area. His books Brothers and Keepers and Hoop Roots use Westinghouse Park as a setting. He also wrote a series of stories called the Homewood Trilogy that are set here.
Neighboring Areas
Point Breeze shares its borders with several other neighborhoods. To the north, it's next to North Point Breeze. To the southeast, you'll find Regent Square. Squirrel Hill South is to the south and southwest. Squirrel Hill North is to the west, and Shadyside is to the northwest. Point Breeze also borders the town of Wilkinsburg to the east.
Park Place Area
The eastern part of Point Breeze is known as Park Place. This area is north of Regent Square and east of Frick Park. The Shady Side Academy Junior School is located here. You can also find the Environmental Charter School, which uses the building that was once known as Park Place School.
Famous People from Point Breeze
- Malcolm James McCormick (1992–2018), known as Mac Miller, was a famous musician. He was born in Point Breeze.
- David McCullough (1933–2022) was a well-known historian and author. He won the Pulitzer Prize twice. David McCullough was born and grew up in Point Breeze.
