Pokémon: Black & White is the 14th season of the popular Pokémon TV show. It is also the first season of Pokémon the Series: Black & White. In Japan, this season is called Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes!.
The show first aired in Japan from September 23, 2010, to September 15, 2011. In the United States, it aired from February 12, 2011, to January 7, 2012. In this season, Ash Ketchum travels to the Unova region. His old friends Brock and Dawn are not with him. Instead, he is joined by two new trainers: Iris and Cilan. The sneaky group Team Rocket also plays a big part in this season.

Special Promotions: Toys "R" Us
To celebrate the new series, a special event happened at US Toys "R" Us stores. Players of the Pokémon Black and White video games could get a special Pokémon egg. This egg would hatch into either an Axew, a Pansage, or a Pidove. These Pokémon had the same moves as the ones owned by Ash, Cilan, and Iris in the anime. The event ran from April 27, 2011, to May 31, 2011. Each player could only get one egg, and the Pokémon inside was a surprise!

Team Rocket hacks the subway system. The Subway Masters can't stop them. Ash suggests checking trains to find the right one. Pikachu realizes Meowth lied and gets angry. The Pokémon work together to escape the train. Ash and friends stop Team Rocket from stealing the Pokémon. Ash is excited for his Gym battle in Nimbasa City.

Music: Songs from the Show
The Japanese opening song is "Best Wishes!" by Rica Matsumoto. The first two episodes in Japan did not have an ending song. Instead, instrumental music from the Pokémon: Black & White Japanese Anime Sound Collection was used. The ending songs that followed were "Fanfare of the Heart" by Aki Okui and "Can You Name All the Pokémon? BW" by Takeshi Tsuruno. The English opening song is "Black and White" by Erin Bowman and Joe Philips. Its instrumental version is used as the ending theme.
Home Video Releases
Viz Media and Warner Home Video released this season on DVD in the United States. They released four sets, each with 12 episodes.
- The first DVD set came out on November 20, 2012.
- The second set was released on January 22, 2013.
- The third set came out on March 19, 2013.
- The fourth set was released on May 14, 2013.
Later, Viz Media and Warner Home Video released Pokémon: Black & White – The Complete Season on DVD on July 27, 2021.
