A Look at Pollard's Past
Pollard got its name from an early family who settled there. This family ran a general store. In 1876, this store became the town's first post office.
For a short time, the post office moved to a nearby area called "Tucker plantation." It was then known as "Advance." But soon, it moved back to Pollard.
In 1914, a railroad line was built through Pollard. This helped transport timber from the area. A town was then planned around the new train station. Pollard officially became a city in 1921.
Where is Pollard Located?
Pollard is found at coordinates 36.430686° N, 90.268820° W. It sits where two main roads meet: U.S. Route 62 and Arkansas Highway 139.
The city is located northwest of Piggott. It is also just a few miles south of the border between Arkansas and Missouri. The United States Census Bureau says Pollard covers about 0.8 square kilometers (0.3 square miles) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.

The Fun Pollard Picnic
Every year, Pollard hosts a special event called the Pollard Picnic. It takes place on the second Saturday in July. This picnic is a big community celebration.
There are many fun activities at the picnic. These include beauty contests and singing performances. You can also play Bingo and a ring toss game. Kids love the swings and the bubble gum blowing contest. Awards are given to the oldest male, oldest female, and the visitor who traveled the furthest to attend.
A benefit auction is also held. People and businesses donate items, and others bid on them. At the end of the day, there are raffles for cash prizes. A handmade quilt, made by local ladies, is also raffled off. All the money raised from the Pollard Picnic helps to maintain the New Hope Cemetery.
