History of Pompano Beach Highlands

Homes started being built in Pompano Beach Highlands in the mid-1950s. A company called Mackle and an architect named James Vensel planned the community. They designed four main types of homes. These houses were built on lots that were about 75 feet by 100 feet.

Home Styles and Features

The homes were single-story buildings made of concrete blocks. They had large windows and open spaces inside. The outside of the houses was kept simple. However, some models had cool, modern touches. For example, the "Lime Beach" model had unique roof designs. These designs gave a stylish look to the otherwise rectangular houses.

Marketing and Growth

The developers advertised these homes all over the country. They even placed ads in popular magazines like Life. The houses were sold at low prices. Also, people could buy them with small down payments. This made it easy for many retired people to buy homes. Some even bought them without seeing them first, just by mail!
