Pompu is a small town, also called a comune (which means municipality or local government area), located on the island of Sardinia in Italy. It is part of the Province of Oristano.
This charming town is about 60 kilometers (37 miles) northwest of Cagliari, which is a larger city. It is also about 25 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Oristano.
About Pompu
Pompu is surrounded by several other towns. These include Curcuris, Masullas, Morgongiori, Simala, and Siris.
Ancient History
Pompu is home to an important historical place called the Nuragic archaeological site of Prabanta. The Nuragic people were an ancient civilization that lived in Sardinia many thousands of years ago. They built special stone towers called nuraghi.
