Port Vue is in western Pennsylvania. It sits along the Youghiogheny River. This river joins the larger Monongahela River nearby.

Port Vue is surrounded by other towns. To its north is McKeesport. To the east and south, you'll find Liberty. To the west is Glassport.

History of Port Vue
Port Vue was officially created in 1892. It has a unique story behind its name.
How Port Vue Got Its Name
In 1891, about 500 people from Lincoln Township decided to form a new borough. They met in a schoolhouse to discuss a name. At first, they thought of calling it "Grandview."
However, they noticed the beautiful view of the port in McKeesport, which was on the Youghiogheny River. Because of this great view, they chose the name Port Vue instead.
Early Residents
For many years, Port Vue was home to war veterans and coal miners. The borough was officially incorporated on September 20, 1892.
