Poteet is a small city located in Atascosa County, Texas, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,795 people lived there. It is part of the larger San Antonio metropolitan area.
Poteet got its name from Francis Marion Poteet, who was the first postmaster in the area. The city is famous for two main things: its delicious strawberries and being the birthplace of country music star George Strait. Poteet is also known for its annual "Poteet Strawberry Festival", which celebrates its famous fruit. You might also know the name Poteet from the comic strip Steve Canyon. A character named Poteet Canyon was named after the town, and there's even a mosaic of him in front of the local fire station!

Poteet is located in southern Texas. It is about 30 miles (48 km) south of downtown San Antonio.
