Potter's History
Potter began its journey in 1870. This happened after a railroad was built through the area. The village was named after General Potter, who was a shareholder in the railroad company.
Famous Hailstone Event
On July 6, 1928, Potter experienced something truly amazing. It received the largest hailstone ever officially recorded! This giant hailstone was about 17 inches (43.2 centimeters) wide. That's bigger than a dinner plate! It also weighed about 1.5 pounds (680 grams). Another hailstone of the same size was found in Aurora, Nebraska in 2003.
