Pradeep Sarkar was a talented Indian director and screenwriter. He was born on April 30, 1955, and passed away on March 24, 2023. He is most famous for directing the movie Parineeta in 2005.

About Pradeep Sarkar
Pradeep Sarkar was born in Kolkata, India, on April 30, 1955. He received several important awards during his career. These included the Abby Award, the Rapa Award, and the National Film Award.
He studied at the Delhi College of Art. He graduated in 1979 with a gold medal. Before becoming a film director, he worked in advertising for 17 years. He started by directing commercials in Delhi. Pradeep Sarkar passed away in Mumbai on March 24, 2023, at the age of 67.
His Amazing Career
Pradeep Sarkar's company made many commercials for big clients. Some of these included Tata Yellow Pages and ICICI Prudential. His black and white TV commercials for Aaj Tak won awards. He received both the Rapa Award and the Best Director of the Year Award at the Abby's.

Directing Films
After making many music videos and over 1000 commercials, Sarkar directed his first feature film. This was the highly praised movie Parineeta. It won the National Film Award for Best Debut Film of a Director.
Sarkar also won the Best Debutant Director at the Screen Awards in 2006. He was named the Hottest Young Director at the Stardust Awards that same year. Parineeta also received five Filmfare Awards.
His next three movies were Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Lafangey Parindey, and Mardaani. All these films were made by Yash Raj Films. In 2018, he directed Eela, which was produced by Ajay Devgn Films. At the time of his passing, Sarkar was working on a special project. It was a movie called ‘Priya Interrupted’, about the life of Priya Rajvansh.
