Pragathi Guruprasad is a talented singer from Singapore and America. She is known for singing in Indian films, especially those in the Tamil language. Pragathi grew up in Fremont, California. She became famous after being a runner-up in a TV singing competition called Airtel Super Singer Junior 3. This show was on TV from October 2011 to October 2012.
About Pragathi's Life
Pragathi Guruprasad was born on September 14, 1997. Her parents are Guruprasad and Kanaka. She was born in Queenstown, Singapore, into a family with Indian roots. Pragathi also has an older sister named Saiprithvi.
When she was little, her father taught Carnatic music lessons in Singapore. Pragathi started learning Carnatic music when she was just five years old. Later, her family moved to Fremont, California. There, she kept learning Carnatic and Hindustani music. Her father taught her first, and then she learned from a teacher named Sangeetha Swaminathan.
Pragathi's Singing Journey
In July 2014, Pragathi was going to try acting in a movie. It was a supporting role in a film called Tharai Thappattai (2016), directed by Bala. However, she decided not to do it because she needed to focus on her college studies.
Later, in September 2016, the director Bala announced she would play the main role in his next movie. This film was supposed to star actor Yuvan. But the movie was never made.
In 2020, Pragathi had a small part in an American TV show. It was a comedy-drama called Never Have I Ever.
Pragathi also sang a famous Tamil poem called 'Yayum Ngayum'. This song was part of an album named Sandham: Symphony Meets Classical Tamil. The music for this album was created by Rajan Somasundaram. In July 2020, this album became one of the top 10 international music albums on Amazon.
