Precious Adams is an American ballet dancer. She is known for her amazing talent and for speaking out about important issues in the ballet world. Precious currently dances with the English National Ballet in London, England.

Early Life and Dance Beginnings
Precious Adams was born and grew up in Canton, Michigan, in the United States. She started dancing when she was seven years old. At first, she learned competitive jazz dance. When she was nine, she began studying classical ballet. She learned from Sergey Rayevskiy at the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet.
Learning Ballet Around the World
Precious worked very hard and trained at many famous ballet schools. She attended summer programs with the American Ballet Theatre. She even won a special scholarship twice.
When she was eleven, she went to study at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. At fourteen, she was chosen to study in Monte Carlo at The Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance.
In 2011, Precious had a special chance to study in Moscow, Russia. She learned Russian and trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. This is one of the most famous ballet schools in the world.
Facing Challenges in Training
While studying at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Precious faced some unfair treatment. She was sometimes left out of performances or auditions because of her race. She was even told hurtful things. This experience showed her the challenges some dancers face.
Awards and Recognition
Precious Adams is a very talented dancer. In 2014, she won two awards at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. This is a very important competition for young dancers. She was also a finalist and silver medalist for the Young Artist Award.
Her Career as a Professional Dancer
Precious Adams joined the English National Ballet in 2014. This is a major ballet company based in London. She quickly showed her skill and was promoted to First Artist in 2017. In 2018, she won the Emerging Dancer Competition. This award recognizes rising stars in the company. In 2020, she was promoted again to Junior Soloist.
Important Roles and Performances
Precious has danced many important roles with the English National Ballet. She performed in Elite Syncopations at the Royal Opera House. She also danced the Chosen One in Le Sacre du printemps. Other roles include Stepsister Edwina in Cinderella and a lead sylph in La Sylphide.
Making a Difference in Ballet
In 2018, Precious Adams made a big decision. She announced that she would wear brown tights that matched her skin tone instead of pink tights. This was a way to show that ballet should be welcoming to everyone. Some people in the ballet world criticized her. However, the director of the English National Ballet, Tamara Rojo, supported her choice.
Precious was named one of the BBC 100 Women in 2019. This list includes 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world.
In 2020, Precious took part in a special online fundraiser called Swans for Relief. She danced The Swan to help dancers and companies affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This event was organized by famous ballerina Misty Copeland.
