Prehysteria! (film series) facts for kids

Prehysteria! is a fun series of three family movies from the 1990s. These films are about the exciting adventures of five miniature baby dinosaurs. Each tiny dinosaur is named after a famous pop musician!

The dinosaur characters are:

• Elvis: A male Tyrannosaurus
• Paula: A female Brachiosaurus
• Jagger: A male Stegosaurus
• Hammer: A male Chasmosaurus
• Madonna: A female Geosternbergia (This one is actually a pterosaur, a flying reptile, not a dinosaur!)

The movies were made by Moonbeam Entertainment. This company focuses on family-friendly films and is part of Charles Band's Full Moon Entertainment. The music for the films was created by Richard Band, Michael Bishop, and Fuzzbee Morse.

The Prehysteria! Films

Prehysteria! (1993)

The first film in the series, released in 1993, introduces us to the tiny dinosaurs. The story begins with Rico Sarno, a museum curator. He finds a nest of five mysterious eggs in a forbidden temple in South America. Rico steals the eggs and brings them back to his museum.

Meanwhile, Frank Taylor (Brett Cullen) is a raisin farmer who sells fossils to Rico. By accident, the Taylor family's dog takes a cooler that has the eggs inside! Frank's children, Monica (Samantha Mills) and Jerry (Austin O'Brien), discover the dinosaurs when they hatch. They try to keep their new friends a secret.

However, Vicki (Colleen Morris), who works for Rico, soon learns about the dinosaurs. She warns the Taylors not to give them back to Rico. She knows Rico would expose them to the world. When Rico finds out the Taylors have the dinosaurs, he hires two robbers to help him get them back.

Prehysteria! 2 (1994)

The second film, released in 1994, continues the adventures of the miniature dinosaurs. This time, the five little creatures find themselves with a new family. The dinosaurs help a lonely boy named Brendan Wellington (Kevin Connors). Brendan is dealing with the loss of his mother and is not very happy.

The dinosaurs help Brendan feel better and make new friends. They also help him connect with his busy father, Mr. Wellington (Dean Scofield). The film shows how these tiny prehistoric pals can bring joy and help a family come closer together.

Prehysteria! 3 (1995)

Prehysteria! 3 is the third and final film in the series, released in 1995. In this movie, the five dinosaurs accidentally fall out of Mr. Cranston's truck. They then make their way to the home of the MacGregor family.

The MacGregor family is struggling to keep their mini-putt golf course open. Ella MacGregor (Whitney Anderson) loves her Scottish heritage. However, she is sad that their family golf course is not doing well. She soon finds the dinosaurs. With her family's help, they decide to rebuild the golf course with a fun dinosaur theme. This new theme helps their business a lot!

But Ella's tricky uncle, Hal MacGregor (Bruce Weitz), wants to take over the golf course. Ella and her parents must hide the mini-dinosaurs to protect them from danger.
