What is Presswood?

The name "Presswood" comes from a big factory that used to be there. This factory made a product called Masonite. Masonite is a type of engineered wood. It's made by pressing wood fibers together under high heat and pressure.

The factory was built in 1948. It used the local workers from Ukiah and the nearby Northwestern Pacific Railroad to ship its products. The factory closed down in 2001. After it closed, the building was taken apart.
