Primrose is a small village located in Boone County, Nebraska, in the United States. In 2020, the village had a population of 55 people. It is a quiet place with a rich history.

History of Primrose

Primrose was officially planned and mapped out in 1902. This happened when the railroad lines were extended to reach this area. Before this, a small group of Irish settlers had already made their homes here.

The village was once known by a different name, "Dublin." However, it was later renamed Primrose. This new name honors David Primrose, who was the original owner of the land where the village now stands.

Primrose is located entirely on land. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers a total area of about 0.72 square kilometers (0.28 square miles). There are no bodies of water within the village limits.

What the 2010 Census Showed

The census conducted in 2010 counted 61 people living in Primrose. These people lived in 29 different homes, and 17 of these were families. The village had about 218 people per square mile. There were 39 housing units in total.

Most of the people in Primrose were White, making up 96.7% of the population. A small percentage, 3.3%, identified as being from two or more races.

Out of the 29 homes, about 24% had children under 18 living there. Nearly half of the homes (48.3%) were married couples living together. A small number of homes had a female head of household without a husband (3.4%) or a male head of household without a wife (6.9%). About 41% of all homes were made up of individuals living alone. Some of these individuals (17.2%) were 65 years old or older. On average, there were 2.10 people in each home and 2.82 people in each family.

The average age of people in Primrose in 2010 was 39.6 years. About 24.6% of residents were under 18 years old. Only 3.3% were between 18 and 24. The largest groups were those aged 25 to 44 and 45 to 64, both making up 27.9% of the population. People aged 65 or older made up 16.4%.
