Princess Charlotte's Story
Early Life and Royal Title
Princess Charlotte was born in Paris, France. She was the oldest daughter of Princess Louise Hippolyte of Monaco and her husband, Prince Jacques I. When she was young, people called her "Mademoiselle de Monaco." She was known by either the name Charlotte or Thérèse Nathalie.
A Different Path: Becoming a Nun
Charlotte was once going to marry a man named Frédéric Jules de La Tour d'Auvergne. He was known as the "Prince of Auvergne." However, this marriage never happened. Their plans were called off, and Charlotte went to a convent to continue her education.
While at the convent, she thought about becoming a nun. This was a big decision, and she spent time thinking about it. Eventually, on January 21, 1738, she decided to take her religious vows. This meant she officially became a sister of the Order of the Visitation. Even after becoming a nun, she sometimes left the convent to visit her family.
Princess Charlotte never married and did not have any children. She passed away around the year 1790.
