Princess Elizabeth Caroline of Great Britain was a royal princess born on January 10, 1741. She was a daughter of Frederick, Prince of Wales and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. This made her a granddaughter of King George II and a sister of King George III. Princess Elizabeth lived a short life, passing away on September 4, 1759.
Her Life
Princess Elizabeth was born at Norfolk House in Westminster, London. Her father was Frederick, Prince of Wales. He was the oldest son of King George II and Caroline of Ansbach. Her mother was Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha.
Elizabeth was christened (given a religious name) twenty-five days after her birth. This ceremony took place at Norfolk House. The Bishop of Oxford, Thomas Secker, performed the christening. Important people, or their representatives, were her godparents.
Not much is known about Princess Elizabeth's life. She lived for only 18 years. She died on September 4, 1759, at Kew Palace in London. She was buried at Westminster Abbey, a famous church in London where many British royals are laid to rest.
