Prophetstown State Park is a special place in Indiana. It remembers a Native American village started in 1808. This village was founded by two important Shawnee leaders, Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa. It grew into a big community for many different tribes.
Today, the park has an open-air museum. Here, you can see what life was like long ago. There's a recreated Shawnee village and a farm from the 1920s. The park is near Battle Ground, Indiana, which is close to where the Battle of Tippecanoe happened in 1811. This battle was a big part of Tecumseh's War and led to the end of the original Prophetstown village. The state park opened in 2004 and welcomes around 335,000 visitors each year.

History of Prophetstown State Park
How the Park Was Created
The idea for Prophetstown State Park first came up in 1989. However, it took a few years to get the money needed. In 1994, the Indiana government finally approved funding.
More land was bought for the park until 1999. The government then gave $3.7 million to officially create the park. Indiana Governor Joe Kernan officially opened the park in 2004.
New Additions to the Park
The park's campground opened in 2005. This was a team effort with the nearby city of Lafayette. An aquatic park, which is a water play area, started being built in October 2012. It was finished in 2013. Local leaders wanted this to bring more visitors to the park and the area.
The Farm at Prophetstown
The Farm at Prophetstown is a special part of the park. It's a non-profit group that uses about 125 acres (51 hectares) of land. Their goal is to show everyone what farming life was like in the 1920s.
