Prospect is a small community called a hamlet. It's located in the town of Trenton, which is part of Oneida County, New York in the United States. In 2010, about 291 people lived there.

You can find Prospect where two roads, NY 365 and Reference Route 920V, meet. It's just west of a stream called West Canada Creek. For many years, from 1890 to 2015, Prospect was an official village.

History of Prospect

Prospect was started in 1803. It became an official village in 1890. On July 21, 2015, people living there voted to end the village's official status. This decision was made mostly because of a long-standing problem with claims from two firefighters.

The village officially stopped being a village on December 31, 2015. Now, the Town of Trenton handles all the government tasks that the village used to do.

The volunteer fire department in Prospect closed down in 2014. This was also due to the same problem mentioned earlier. However, the volunteer ambulance service still helps the community.
