Puente Mayorga is a small coastal village in Andalusia, Spain. It is part of the larger area called San Roque. This village is located in the Province of Cádiz, which is in southern Spain. Puente Mayorga sits right on the Bay of Gibraltar, northwest of Gibraltar. It is also very close to La Línea de la Concepción. In 2011, about 2,245 people lived here.

About Puente Mayorga

Puente Mayorga is a district, sometimes called a barriada or pedanía. This means it is a smaller community that belongs to a larger municipality. Even though it's part of San Roque, it's about three kilometers south of San Roque's main center. Its location on the Bay of Gibraltar makes it a significant coastal spot.

Location and Name

The village gets its name from a bridge that crosses the Arroyo de Cachón. This arroyo (which means stream or small river) flows into the Guadarranque river. The stream separates Puente Mayorga from a large industrial area. So, the "Puente" (bridge) in its name is very important to its identity.

Important Places

Puente Mayorga has a few interesting landmarks. One is the Parish Church of San Hiscio, a local church important to the community. Another notable place is the Torre del Rocadillo. This is a historic tower located about one mile to the west of the village. Towers like this were often used for defense or as watchtowers in the past.

Getting Around

The village is connected by important roads. The highway CA-34 runs through Puente Mayorga. Another road, CA-2321, links the village to Guadarranque. There is also a regular bus service. This bus connects Puente Mayorga with the towns of San Roque and La Línea de la Concepción, making it easy for people to travel between these areas.
