Puerto Quijarro is a lively city and an important river port in Bolivia. It sits right on the border with Brazil, along the Tamengo Canal. This special canal connects Puerto Quijarro to a huge water highway called the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway. This makes Puerto Quijarro super important because it's Bolivia's only direct water route to the ocean!

The city is part of the Germán Busch Province in the Santa Cruz Department. In 2001, about 12,903 people lived there.

A City with a History

Puerto Quijarro was founded by a person named Antonio Quijarro. The city celebrates its founding day on June 18, 1940. This date marks when it officially became a municipality.

Connecting Bolivia and Brazil

Puerto Quijarro is a key connection point. Roads and a railway line link the city to the rest of Bolivia and also to Brazil. The nearby Brazilian city is Corumbá.

An important port called Puerto Aguirre is also part of the Puerto Quijarro municipality. It's located on the Tamengo Canal, between Puerto Quijarro and another Bolivian city, Puerto Suárez.

The railway that connects Puerto Quijarro to Santa Cruz de la Sierra (a big city in Bolivia) is operated by a company called Ferroviaria Oriental S.A.. This railway helps transport goods and people, making Puerto Quijarro a busy hub for trade and travel.
