History of Pulaskifield
Early Beginnings
The area was first known as Bricefield. It was named after J. Brice Hudson. His father owned the land where the first general store was located. A post office was set up in this store in 1893. August Dombroski was the first postmaster.
Name Change to Pulaskifield
Over time, people in the area started calling it Pulaskifield. In 1930, the name was officially changed to Pulaskifield. This change happened because many Polish families had moved there. They started buying land and farming in the late 1870s. These families wanted to honor their heritage.
Honoring a Hero
The community was renamed to honor Casimir Pulaski. He was a Polish nobleman and a hero. Pulaski fought for freedom in both Poland and the United States. He was a Continental Army Brigadier General during the American Revolution. He is remembered for his bravery and his fight for independence.
