The Punta Moscarter Lighthouse is an important lighthouse that helps ships find their way near Portinatx. This town is on the northern coast of Ibiza, a beautiful island in Spain.
Building the Tallest Lighthouse
Work on the Punta Moscarter Lighthouse began in 1975. It started shining its light for ships in November 1978.
This lighthouse has a concrete tower that is 52-metre-high (171 ft). When it was finished, it became the tallest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands. It took over this record from the Illa de l'Aire Lighthouse on Menorca, which is 38 meters tall.
