Putte is a municipality, which is like a local government area, located in the country of Belgium. It's part of the Antwerp province, which is one of Belgium's ten provinces. The municipality of Putte includes the main town of Putte, plus other smaller towns like Beerzel, and the villages of Grasheide and Peulis.
Putte is about 8 kilometers (5 miles) east of a bigger city called Mechelen. In 2021, about 18,109 people lived in Putte. The total area of the municipality is around 34.96 square kilometers (13.5 square miles).
Geography and Nature
Putte is known for its beautiful natural spots. One special place is the Beerzelberg in Beerzel. This hill is the highest point in the entire Antwerp province, reaching an altitude of 51.60 meters (169.3 feet). It's a great spot to enjoy views of the surrounding area.
It's important not to confuse Putte with another place that has the same name. There's a different municipality called Putte in the region of Kempen. That other Putte is split by the border between Putte, Netherlands and Putte, Kapellen in Belgium. Our Putte is a unique place in the Antwerp province!
