Quarry Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Flamborough, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. It stands about 6 meters (20 feet) tall. This special waterfall is known as a "horsetail ribbon" type. This means the water flows down a steep rock face, staying in contact with the rock, much like a horse's tail.

Quarry Falls is on private land, which means you cannot visit it without special permission.

Discovering Quarry Falls

This hidden waterfall was first "discovered" in 2006. Two people named Joe Hollick and Montfield Christian found it. They used to work for the Hamilton Conservation Authority. They were out exploring the area, taking measurements and using GPS devices to map other waterfalls nearby.

Even though Quarry Falls is on private land, there are many other cool places to explore nearby. These include:

  • The famous Bruce Trail, a long hiking path.
  • Smokey Hollow Resource Management Area, a great place for nature.
  • Rock Chapel Sanctuary, another peaceful natural area.
  • Borer's Falls, another beautiful waterfall.
  • Rock Chapel Golf Course.
  • The amazing Royal Botanical Gardens, which has many different plants and gardens.

Upper Quarry Cascade

Close to Quarry Falls, you can find another smaller waterfall called Upper Quarry Cascade. It is about 4 meters (13 feet) tall. This cascade is just northeast of Quarry Falls, very close to the Bruce Trail. There's even a wooden bridge on the Bruce Trail that crosses right over the top of this cascade.
