This drink was first made in 1982. It was widely available in the UK from 1983 until the mid-1980s, when its production stopped there.
Today, a different version of Quatro is sold by The Coca-Cola Company in South America. This version has been available since 1996. It is grapefruit-flavored and can be found in countries like Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Uruguay.
Quatro's TV Commercials
In 1986, an advertising company called Kirkwood and Partners created a TV commercial for Quatro. They came up with an idea for a futuristic vending machine that didn't work quite right.
The commercial was made by Annabel Jankel and Rocky Morton from Cucumber Studios. They were known for their cool music videos for artists like Elvis Costello and Talking Heads. They combined live action with advanced computer animation to make the ad special. The animation for the inside of the machine was created by Sogitec in France. Sogitec was very good at making flight simulations at the time. The catchy music for the commercial was made by a group called Intaferon.
