Quebrada Grande has changed over time. On June 11, 2020, a new district called Cabeceras was created. This new district was formed using some land that used to be part of Quebrada Grande.
Before this change, Quebrada Grande was much larger. It used to cover about 85.24 square kilometers (32.91 square miles). After the change, 51.25 square kilometers (19.79 square miles) became part of the new Cabeceras district.
