Queens Reach is a beautiful and important part of the Jervis Inlet in British Columbia, Canada. It's like the very end of a long, narrow arm of the ocean that reaches deep into the land. This special waterway is surrounded by the tall, impressive peaks of the Coast Mountains.

What is Queens Reach?

Queens Reach is a type of waterway called a fjord. Fjords are long, narrow inlets of the sea, often with steep sides. They are usually created by glaciers that carved out the land a long, long time ago.

Location and Size

Queens Reach is found on the coast of British Columbia. It stretches for about 34 kilometers (21 miles). It is also very deep, reaching down to 457 meters (1,499 feet) in some places. That's deeper than many tall buildings!

How it Got its Name

Queens Reach was named a long time ago, around 1860. A British ship called the HMS Plumper was exploring and mapping the area. The people on the ship decided to name this part of the inlet after Queen Victoria. She was the Queen of the United Kingdom at that time.
