The Queest-alb Glacier is a natural ice formation located in the Snoqualmie National Forest in the state of Washington, U.S.. You can find it on the western side of a mountain called Three Fingers. This glacier is also sometimes called the Three Fingers Glacier. However, neither of these names are officially recognized by the United States Geological Survey, which is a government agency that studies the Earth.

What is a Glacier?

A glacier is a huge, slow-moving river of ice. It forms over many years as layers of snow pile up and get compacted. The weight of the new snow squeezes the old snow into ice. Glaciers are important because they store a lot of the world's fresh water. They also help shape the land as they slowly move.

Queest-alb: A Cirque Glacier

The Queest-alb Glacier is a special type called a cirque glacier. A cirque glacier forms in a bowl-shaped hollow on the side of a mountain. This hollow is called a cirque. Imagine a giant scoop taken out of the mountain. That's where this type of glacier sits.

Where is Queest-alb Glacier?

This glacier is nestled high up in the mountains of Snohomish County, Washington. It sits on the western slopes of the Three Fingers mountain. The glacier stretches from an elevation of about 6,400 feet (1,950 meters) down to 5,000 feet (1,524 meters). This makes it quite high up in the mountains!

Glacier Status: Retreating

The Queest-alb Glacier is currently retreating. This means it is getting smaller over time. When a glacier retreats, it melts faster than new snow can build up and turn into ice. Many glaciers around the world are retreating due to changes in climate. This can affect local water supplies and ecosystems.

Fun Activities at the Glacier

Even though it's retreating, the Queest-alb Glacier is a popular spot for outdoor activities. Many people enjoy skiing on its icy slopes. The high elevation and snowy conditions make it a great place for adventurous skiers. It offers a unique experience for those who love winter sports in the mountains.
