Quentin McCord was an American football player. He was born on June 26, 1978, and passed away on August 13, 2020. Quentin played as a wide receiver in two major football leagues: the National Football League (NFL) in the United States and the Canadian Football League (CFL) in Canada.

He was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft. During his career, McCord also played for the Oakland Raiders, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and Edmonton Eskimos. He finished his time in professional football playing arena football with the Kentucky Horsemen.

College Football Career

Quentin McCord went to the University of Kentucky for college. He was one of the first players from his hometown, LaGrange, Georgia, to play football there.

While playing for the Kentucky Wildcats, he gained 1,743 receiving yards. This impressive number placed him fourth among all receivers in the university's history.

Professional Football Career

Quentin McCord played in different football leagues during his professional career. He started in the NFL, then moved to the CFL, and later played arena football.

Playing in the NFL

The Atlanta Falcons picked McCord in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played for the Falcons for three seasons, from 2001 to 2003.

During his time with the Falcons, he caught 23 passes for a total of 427 yards. He also scored one touchdown. His best year was 2002, when he caught 11 passes for 253 yards and scored his only NFL touchdown. McCord also helped his team by returning kickoffs and punts. After leaving the Falcons, he spent some time with the Oakland Raiders in 2004 as part of their practice squad.

Playing in the CFL

After a year away from football in 2005, McCord joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2006. He later signed with the Edmonton Eskimos in September 2006. He stayed with the Eskimos until April 2008.

Playing Arena Football

In 2009, McCord played arena football in the af2 league. He was assigned to the Kentucky Horsemen team. Arena football is a faster version of American football played indoors on a smaller field.
