Quero is a small town, also called a municipality, located in central Spain. It is part of the province of Toledo, which is in the region of Castile-La Mancha. In 2012, about 1,311 people lived there. This number was much lower than in 1930, when 3,101 people lived in Quero.
Where is Quero Located?
Quero is about 107 kilometers (66 miles) east of the city of Toledo. Long ago, in 1162, during a time called the Reconquista (when Christian kingdoms took back land from Muslim rule in Spain), the lands around Quero belonged to a group called the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Later, in 1241, these lands were given to the leader of Consuegra.
Quero is also near a fairly large pond known as Laguna Grande. The town is located in a region called a comarca, which is like a local district. This specific comarca is named Mancha Alta de Toledo, after the famous historical region of La Mancha.
