Quirihue (Spanish pronunciation: [kiˈɾiwe]) is a city and commune in Chile. It is located in the Itata Province of the Ñuble Region. Quirihue is about 72 kilometers northwest of Chillán. It is also about 410 kilometers southwest of Santiago, the capital city.

Quirihue is a lively place with a rich history. It was officially founded on January 17, 1749. Back then, it was known as Villa San Antonio Abad of Quirihue. Today, it is an important part of the Ñuble Region.
People and Numbers
Every few years, a count of the population happens. This is called a census. According to the 2002 census, Quirihue covers an area of 589 square kilometers. It had 11,429 people living there at that time.
- Out of these, 5,852 were men and 5,577 were women.
- Most people, about 7,952 (69.6%), lived in the city areas.
- The rest, 3,477 people (30.4%), lived in the countryside.
Between 1992 and 2002, the number of people in Quirihue grew by 4.2%. This means 458 more people came to live there.
