Quisp facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Quisp is a sweet breakfast cereal made by the Quaker Oats Company. It first came out in 1965. For many years, you could find it in most grocery stores. Later, it was sold less often, and you could mostly buy it online. But in 2012, Quisp returned to stores!

Quaker Oats also sold Quisp with a cereal called Quake. They even had fun TV commercials for both cereals. These cartoons were made by Jay Ward, who created many popular animated TV shows.

Quisp cereal is made from corn flour and syrup. It is baked into small, saucer-like shapes. Many people say it tastes a lot like another Quaker Oats cereal, Cap'n Crunch. The Quake cereal was made in the same way, but its pieces were shaped like the letter Q.

On the cereal box, you might see the words "Crunchy Corn Cereal" on the front. On the sides, it says "QUAZY Energy Cereal."

What's in Quisp?

The main things in Quisp cereal are corn flour, sugar, and oat flour. It also has brown sugar, coconut oil, and salt.

To make it even better for you, Quisp has added vitamins and minerals. These include niacinamide, iron, and zinc oxide. It also contains yellow 5 and yellow 6 for color. Other vitamins like thiamin mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, and riboflavin are also added. Finally, it has folic acid and a small amount of BHT to keep it fresh.

Quaker Oats used to sell a very similar cereal called Quaker Sweet Crunch. It had the same ingredients and was also shaped like saucers.
