History of Römerswil
The area around Römerswil has a long history. One part of the municipality, called Herlisberg, was first written about in the year 1173. Back then, it was known as Heigesperhc. Later, in 1242, its name was recorded as Hergesberch.
In 2005, something big happened for Römerswil. The nearby municipality of Herlisberg joined with Römerswil. This made Römerswil a bit bigger!
Geography of Römerswil
Römerswil is found in a beautiful area called the Seetal valley. It's about 3 kilometers (about 1.8 miles) west of Hochdorf, which is the main town of the district. It's also very close to Huwyl, just 1 kilometer (about 0.6 miles) away, and about 2 kilometers (about 1.2 miles) from the lovely Lake Baldegg.
The municipality covers an area of about 16.7 square kilometers (about 6.4 square miles). A large part of this land, about 77%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 16.3% of the area. The rest of the land, about 6.5%, has buildings and roads. A very small part, 0.2%, is made up of rivers or other natural areas.
