Rabie Ablak, also known as Rabie Al-Ablak, is a Moroccan journalist. He is known for being involved with the Hirak Rif Movement. This movement is a group of people who wanted better living conditions and more fairness in their region.

Rabie Ablak has used a method called a hunger strike to show his strong disagreement with how he was being held. A hunger strike means refusing to eat food for a period of time. Some of his hunger strikes lasted over 40 days. Because of this, he needed to go to the hospital many times for medical care. In total, he has been on hunger strike for more than 284 days.

Rabie Ablak's Work

Rabie Ablak worked as a writer for an online newspaper called Badil. This newspaper was started by Hamid El Mahdaoui. Rabie worked in the town of Al Hoceima.

His Role in the Movement

In Al Hoceima, Rabie Ablak was an important part of the Popular Rif movement. This movement was similar to the Hirak Rif Movement. He worked alongside another well-known leader named Nasser Zafzafi.

Arrest and Time in Prison

Rabie Ablak was arrested on May 28, 2017, in the town of Al Hoceïma. A group called Amnesty International reported that he faced very difficult conditions while he was held. He was later sentenced to five years in prison. He was held at Tangier II prison. On September 6, 2019, he started another hunger strike.
