Radim Bičánek (born January 18, 1975) is a former professional ice hockey player from the Czech Republic. He played as a defenceman, which is a player who helps protect their team's goal. Radim played in the famous National Hockey League (NHL) in North America.

He was chosen by the Ottawa Senators in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. This means the Senators picked him as a promising young player to join their team. He was the 27th player picked overall in that draft.

Radim's Hockey Journey

Starting in Junior Hockey

Radim Bičánek began his hockey career playing for the Belleville Bulls in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). This is a major junior league in Canada where many young players get ready for professional hockey. He played there for two seasons, gaining valuable experience.

Playing in the NHL

Radim made his first appearance in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Ottawa Senators during the 1994–95 season. He played a few games that year. The next season, he spent most of his time with the Senators' minor league team, the Prince Edward Island Senators, in the American Hockey League (AHL).

He continued to play for the Ottawa Senators in the NHL for more games in the 1996–97 season. Over the next couple of years, he played a few games for Ottawa before being traded.

Moving to Other Teams

In 1999, Radim was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He played some games for them too. Later, when the Columbus Blue Jackets were a brand new team joining the NHL, they picked Radim in a special draft in 2000. He then played for the Blue Jackets.

Returning to the Czech Republic

During a time when there were no NHL games in 2004–05, Radim went back to his home country, the Czech Republic. He played for a team called HC JME Znojemští Orli. After five seasons with that team, he moved to play for HC Kometa Brno. He finished his long and successful career playing for HC Karlovy Vary.
