Raiford is a small town in Union County, Florida, in the United States. It's known for being home to several large correctional facilities, which are places where people who have committed crimes are held. The first state prison in Florida was built in the Raiford area.
The town of Raiford also has a local club called the Masonic lodge, which is part of a larger organization called The Grand Lodge of Florida. In 2020, about 224 people lived in Raiford, not including those in the correctional facilities.

Raiford is located in Florida at coordinates 30°3′46″N 82°14′13″W. This means it's in the northern part of the state.

Correctional Facilities
The area around Raiford is home to important correctional facilities. These include the Union Correctional Institution (UCI) and the Florida State Prison (FSP). Originally, these two facilities were part of one large prison.
UCI was Florida's first state prison. When the facilities were separated, the name "Florida State Prison" went to the newer one. Both UCI and FSP house people who have been sentenced for serious crimes.
About Union Correctional Institution
UCI holds a wide variety of inmates. It houses people who need special management and those with mental health needs. Many of the inmates in the general population at UCI are 50 years old or older.
About Florida State Prison
FSP is known for housing inmates who have committed very serious crimes. These individuals are often kept in solitary confinement, meaning they are held alone.
The entire prison area is very large, covering over 50 acres (200,000 square meters). It even has a farm where food is grown to feed the inmates.
Close by, there are also training facilities for Correctional Officers (COs). These are the people who work at the prisons. There is also housing for some COs and the warden's house.
Education
Children living in Raiford attend schools that are part of the Union County School District. This school district serves all of Union County.
